JOHN Blewitt (December 19) made his views known regarding the proposed cable car. However, what he may not be aware of is that as the population age profile continues to rise there is an increasing demand for access to the hills.

In fact, under the disabled access legislation the Conservators may well be obliged to make provision for it. As the only logical alternative would be for vehicular transport up the Beacon road, I take the view that a cable car is a better alternative.

It would be a far more attractive cleaner and greener proposition than having vehicles going up the Beacon road belching out cancer-causing particulates into the atmosphere.
