THE Malvern Gazette (November 29, 2013) carried an advertising feature from Malvern Hills District Council which contained advice that the Sling Lane playing fields and sports pavilion had been handed over to Newtown Sports Junior Football Club following substantial enhancements to the facility and that the council had created public open space for a raft of other recreational opportunities.
Since that date I have walked the playing fields daily but had not identified any feature that was not there before, other than the changing room and the approach road.
But now two small ponds have appeared each side of the new building complete with ducks.
The council should be congratulated for arranging for this water feature, and perhaps we may look forward to some sort of refreshment facility to be provided?
It would be quite pleasant to enjoy an ice cream or hot drink watching the ducks in their new environment.
