There were long queues despite the cold as a Malvern takeaway gave away 100 free burgers.

Hillbilly’s Street Kitchen opened in Malvern Link just a few months ago.

But it has already been so well received that the team wanted to give back to the community that has been supporting it.

The big giveaway took place on Wednesday, December 14 at 6pm at the takeaway in Worcester Road.

Hundreds queued up despite the freezing cold temperatures, as eager burger-lovers waited patiently for that rare thing - a free meal.

The first 100 people to turn up were rewarded with a free burger. There was also the option for people to buy chips and drinks to go with it.

Molly Brittain, from Hillbilly’s, said: “We’ve had such great support from the community that we wanted to give something back. We know times are tough for people at the moment so we thought we’d give some burgers away.

“People say there’s no such thing as a free meal, well this time there is.

“This is our thank you for the fantastic support we have received from the Malvern community, and to recognise that not everyone will be able to afford to try our food at the moment.

“We do big burgers - burgers with mac and cheese and onion rings, that type of thing. We have loaded fries, ribs, chicken wings and some great vegan options too such as jackfruit fries.

“We’re takeaway only and based in the centre of Malvern Link.”

The Hillbilly’s menu features a range of burgers including the Boss Man Smash Burger, which comprises a double beef patty, monterey jack cheese, pulled brisket, onion rings and burger sauce.

There is also the Natalie Portman (vegan) option, which is made up of a panko ‘chicken’ burger, satay sauce, raw slaw, garlic aioli and baby gem lettuce.

After the giveaway, Hillbilly’s Street Kitchen posted on Instagram: “Merry Christmas Malvern! We hope you all enjoyed your free burgers last night, we had a great time seeing so many new faces.”
