MALVERN wrap up their Midlands One season tomorrow and still have a huge part to play in the division’s relegation picture.

Last-day nerves will be on show for the Spring Lane club’s opponents Bedford Athletic tomorrow (ko 3pm) with the home side desperate to win and avoid relegation under the re-organisation of the leagues.

To make matters worse for Bedford, Malvern director of rugby Dave Robins has a full-strength squad to pick from as he aims to end his side’s campaign on a high.

Robins was full of praise for his side despite seeing them crash to a 24-10 defeat to champions Broadstreet on Saturday.

Gareth Taylor returns to the second row and Simon Daws comes into the back row after they both had spells on the sidelines.

He said: “It’s a massive game for Bedford.

“It’s big for us as well as if both Hinckley and Kettering lose and we win we will jump two places in the table.

“That would be a very creditable finish for us for what has been a very, very difficult season.

“We will not show any sympathy to Bedford but it’s going to be no pushover for us.

“We lost to a quality side on Saturday but it was a good performance from us and we have played well in our last few games.

“It’s been a demanding season for us but we have played very well, particularly in the second half of the season.”
