Malvern Town moved into second place in the Hellenic League Premier following a statement win at the previously unbeaten Westfields on Tuesday evening.

Malvern were 2-0 up after just 24 minutes thanks to goals from Harry Clark and Matt Turner.

Westfields pulled one back shortly after the half-time interval but Adam Sauntson made it 3-1 on the hour.

The hosts hit the bar and missed a glaring chance in the final ten minutes as they pushed to get back into the game but Malvern held on to secure another three points and leapfrog Westfields into second spot.

The Hillsiders returned from an 11-day break from league football last weekend with a 3-0 win over Shrivenham and carried that form into Tuesday's clash at Westfields.

It was the perfect start for the visitors as Clark scored within the first four minutes of the contest following tidy link-up play from Joe Bullock and Joe Bates.

Sauntson had a header cleared off the line as Malvern pushed for a second but they only had to wait until the 24th minute for it as Turner curled a superb strike into the bottom corner.

Westfields were stunned but they got themselves back in the game after the restart as Matthew MacDonald flicked a header past Keiron Blackburn from a free-kick to make it 1-2.

The hosts' tails were up but soon after the hour Malvern reestablished their two-goal advantage as centre-half Sauntson guided the ball home from Clark's cut-back.

Westfields had chances to pull one back but Malvern remained firm and saw out the game in a professional manner to take all three points back home.
