LEDBURY Lions eased their relegation fears in Paperstation Malvern League Division One with a 7-3 victory against Manor Park Travellers.

Success came courtesy of another maximum from Hong Kong’s Yeh Tsz Yan and two wins each for Steve Meredith and Matt Hodges.

Craig Preece replied with two wins for Travellers and also combined with Toby Wren to take the doubles. Ledbury Collection defeated YMCA Pterodactyls 6-4 thanks to two wins each for Patryk Kovacz and Nigel Foreshew alongside one for Harry Jutle.

Svilen Andreev was in superb form for Pterodactyls, taking his three singles and supported by Matt Hodges with one, while Foreshew and Kovacz won the crucial doubles against Andreev and Hodges 13-11 in the fifth set.

In Division Two, Manor Park Wanderers defeated Upton 7-3 with a maximum for Stan Mason.

He was supported by Phil Smethurst with two wins and Dave Bradley with one, while Roger Davies (two) and Mark Davies (one) replied for Upton.

Poolbrook Dynamos eased past CSSC Nomads 9-1 with maximums for both Geoff Burford and John Phillips and two wins from Tom James.

Dave Hayes replied with a single win for Nomads.

Scuttling Gang defeated Tornados 7-3 thanks to three wins from Ray Davies, supported by Richard Cullis’ double and one success from Ken Hipwell.

Dominic Weston replied with two wins for Tornados, while James Mulka won one. X Police maintained their Division Three title challenge with a 6-4 win against Manor Park Crackpots thanks to a maximum for Steve Mulka.

James Mulka chipped in with two, while Stephen Lindner replied with two wins for Crackpots alongside one apiece for Ed Palmer and Bob Hunt.

Devils revived their promotion hopes thanks to a narrow 6-4 win against league leaders Bromyard Hopefuls.

There were two wins each for Liz Hallam, Paul Lythgoe and Pete Harding, while Ed Tinton maintained his unbeaten record for Bromyard with three more wins and victory in the doubles with David Gwilt against Lythgoe and Harding.

Poolbrook Rangers defeated Crackpots ‘B’ 8-2 with three wins each for Phil Smethurst and Rob Weston and two for Nick Haggar.

Stan Gynn replied for Crackpots ‘B’ and also claimed the doubles with Ted Cates.

Abbeydowne and Poolbrook Panthers shared the spoils in a 5-5 draw with Niels Erikksson in top form for Abbeydowne taking his three singles and the doubles with Chris Burrows, who also enjoyed a singles victory.

Jude Tyson and Collette James, with two wins each, and Ewan Gear (one) earned the draw for Panthers.
