WELLAND put the disappointment of last week’s draw behind them and got back to winning ways.
While the scoreline reflects Welland’s dominance, they didn’t have it all their own way against an Evesham United side who have improved since these teams met earlier in the season.
In fact, Evesham’s sprightly forward unsettled the Welland defence on a couple of occasions in the second-half and Evesham may consider themselves unlucky not to have spoiled Welland’s clean sheet.
However, Welland always appeared in control and Jonny Amery scored Welland’s opener midway through the first-half to deservedly put his team ahead.
Welland then succeeded where they failed last week, by turning their ball possession into goals in the second- half. The second came when Lewi Hobbs crossed from the right and the ball was directed into the net by an Evesham defender.
Jim Smith completed the scoring, cutting in from the right and firing home.
A late penalty appeal was dismissed by the referee after Henry Dyde appeared to have been blocked in the box.
This result keeps Welland in touch with the top but, after last week’s dropped points, third place now looks the likely finish.
