HANLEY Swan began their Cheltenham Football League Division Two home campaign with a comfortable 6-2 win over Fintan.

They had the better of the early exchanges and it was not long before they took the lead.

A good ball from Cathal McTernan found Kevin Moore who hit it over the advancing keeper.

Against the run of play Fintan levelled the score swiftly.

But minutes later Moore latched on to a headed ball from Luke Duffett and drove it into the bottom corner to restore the lead.

Hanley then went further ahead when a free-kick by McTernan was met at the far post by Duffett who smashed it into the roof of the net.

Moore completed his hat-trick when he hooked the ball into the net to make it 4-1 at half-time.

The second half saw Hanley ease off a little and allow Fintan back into the game but the back four of Mark Amott, Dave Smith, Chris Aston and Chris Bunn kept them at bay.

As the game wore on Hanley started to push forward again looking for more goals.

Further good work from McTernan set up Ash Bloore to hit the ball home.

Bloore then added a sixth for Hanley smashing a left-foot shot in from a tight angle following a good run out of defence by Aston.

A late penalty gave Fintan a consolation goal but overall this was a good team performance from the home side which moved them up to second spot in the division.

Hanley have no game this weekend and are away to Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves on Saturday, October 7.
