MALVERN Radar are the new leaders of the McDonald’s Worcester and District League Sunday Premier Division after a 5-2 win at Droitwich Spa Eagles.

Sean Smith and Lewis Platt both scored twice with Ricky Buckland also on the scoresheet.

The wide open spaces of the Old Porcelain Sports Ground suited the passing style of Radar.

Facing a strong, icy wind in the first-half, Radar sensibly avoided the aerial route and kept the ball on the floor.

During a nervy first few minutes, Eagles could twice have stolen the lead but, as the visitors settled, they began to demonstrate the slick pass-and-move strategy that has served them so well this season.

Despite stern defending from Eagles, the attacking line-up of Buckland, Platt and Smith were able to use their superior pace and shared five goals between them.

Both Arrow Upton 2000 and Perrywood have games in hand but, with points in the bag and on current form, Radar will hope to be challenging strongly for the number-one spot at the end of the season.
