Dunkirk 3, Malvern Town 2.

MALVERN Town failed to get the Baker Joiner Midland Alliance point they richly deserved at high-flying Dunkirk.

The visitors started brightly but failed to create any chances and saw the Nottingham side score with their first attack on 21 minutes.

Jarrod Westcarr broke and crossed for Darren Garmston to fire home.

They increased their lead two minutes later when Westcarr escaped down the left again and centred for Shannon Grant to tap home.

Malvern settled and started to knock the ball about again.

But on 33 minutes keeper Craig Humphries sliced a back-pass and the ball fell for goal-poacher Shannon Grant to net his second.

Dunkirk hit the post five minutes before half-time.

Malvern came out determined in the second-half and restricted Dunkirk to just one more chance.

Town pulled a goal back on 56 minutes when the ball was cleared to Tom Allard, who struck a magnificent shot from 30 yards out which curled into the corner of the net.

Dunkirk retaliated and Grant saw his shot well saved by Humphries. Malvern’s second goal came in the 65th minute when Dorian Colling was played through to round keeper Jake Want and fire home.

Lee Allen’s free-kick went high and Allard shot just wide as Town searched in vain for an equaliser.

Malvern host Biddulph Victoria tomorrow (ko 3pm).
