Garnons 225 all out, Bosbury 229-8.

BOSBURY rounded off a magnificent first season in Marches League Division One by lifting the GB Liners Marches KO Cup after beating Garnons by two wickets.

The winning runs were scored in fading light in the final over of a rain-reduced match.

The game started over an hour-and-a-half late and was reduced to 35 overs-per-side.

Bosbury captain Darren Cooke won the toss and elected to bowl first after the morning rain and early afternoon showers which had caused the delay.

Garnons posted 225 all out off 34.4 overs. Bosbury openers Dave Spiller and Simon Probyn made steady progress at around five-an-over.

Spiller looked in control as he brought up his fifty in 65 balls and the 100 partnership came up in the 19th over.

Probyn’s patient supporting innings of 33 was brought to an end when he was bowled in Stuart Griffiths’ second over.

Cooke joined Spiller and the pair put on a further 44 before Cooke was bowled for 15 in Jonny Andrews’ first over.

Spiller’s innings ended soon after, caught by Dan Brace off Griffiths for 78, including eight fours, with Bosbury now 146-3 in the 26th over.

Luke Ledbury was bowled by Griffiths for six and then Gareth Bakewell was caught by Griffiths off Andrews for nine, as Bosbury progressed to 168-6 in the 30th over.

With five overs to go and in descending gloom, Bosbury required 54, with new batsmen Chris Stokes and Darren Woodhouse at the crease.

Woodhouse fell lbw to Andrews for 12. In the same over, Jon Owen was run out and Bosbury were 203-8 with two overs and one ball left.

The first ball was hit for four by Hurrell (15no), bringing the scores level. He then fired a four for the win. Stokes finished on an unbeaten 36.
