WEST Malvern pole vaulter Bryony Raine has been selected for the Wales squad for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
The 24-year-old has been competing through the pain barrier this season after fracturing her foot during this year’s indoor season.
Raine will embark on her Indian adventure between October 3 and 14 at the event, which features 85 teams.
This selection caps off a memorable season for the former Malvern Hills Gymnastics Club member, who achieved a lifetime best of four metres 15cm at the Vault Manchester competition.
Raine, who has been training after having a pain-killing injection, said: “This is a huge opportunity for me, where I will be competing against some of the best vaulters in the world.”
