FORMER Upton Rowing Club member Zac Purchase enjoyed a winning reunion with Olympic gold medal-winning partner Mark Hunter in a successful World Cup comeback.

The pair came home first in the lightweight men’s double scull in Munich, the second World Cup event of the year and their first together since Beijing 2008.

Purchase and Hunter withstood a strong start from Germany and defeated New Zealand’s world champions Storm Uru and Peter Taylor by half-a-boat length.

Their gold medal-winning success was one of five first-placed finishes for Great Britain at the Munich event. Purchase missed last year’s action due to illness but returned to win his singles race in the World Cup opener in Slovenia. The 24-year-old’s partner Hunter took a year off to coach in the United States.
