WORCESTERSHIRE County Cricket Club’s players have used their new winter base at Malvern College in preparation for the 2010 season for the first time.

The players’ first session back after their end-of-season break was a gruelling fitness test at Malvern College with new strength and conditioning coach Ross Dewar.

For the duration of the winter, the club will use Malvern College’s state-of-the-art sports complex for its first XI, second XI and academy training.

The college’s new sports complex and hospitality suite is now operational and includes an indoor cricket facility and fitness suite, making it one of the best-resourced schools for cricket in the country. Worcestershire CCC will make use of this indoor venue for match preparation during the winter months and for pre-match training during bad weather.

The new sports hall will incorporate a sound system to simulate crowd noise, high levels of artificial light and heaters to simulate warm climates.

Head of Malvern College, Antony Clark, said: “Together, we have designed a complex which offers one of the best indoor cricket facilities in the country, which will be enjoyed by the students and community as well.”
