MALVERN TOWN 0, BROMSGROVE ROVERS 4.

MALVERN Town conceded three first-half goals as they were beaten at home by Bromsgrove Rovers in British Gas Business Division One Midlands.

The Langland Stadium side started slowly and were two goals down after 11 minutes.

Only eight minutes had elapsed when the ball was played in from the right and Craig Williams cleared it for a corner.

Kevin Banner sent in an inswinging flag-kick which beat keeper Craig Humphries at his near post.

Three minutes later, a Bromsgrove free-kick from 35 yards out was played into the penalty area and found Leon Kelly unmarked to head home.

Joe Rawle’s side had their first shot on target in the 19th minute when Dale Williams’ effort was caught by keeper Karl Lewis.

Bromsgrove were awarded a free-kick just outside the area 10 minutes before half-time and Graham Deakin drove the ball into the top of the net.

Malvern then had an appeal for a penalty turned down when Shane Gill was brought down in the box.

The hosts started the second-half brightly and in the first minute the ball was played across the box by Gill but Craig Malins and Williams were unable to reach it.

Three minutes later Gill forced Lewis to turn his shot past the post and, from the resulting corner, Scott Devlin’s shot was cleared off the line by Richard Slaughter.

A suicidal back pass in the 55th-minute was played to keeper Humphries, allowing Danny Campbell to nip in for Bromsgrove’s fourth, which was also the 100th league goal Town have conceded this season.

Humphries made a point-blank save to deny Campbell his second of the game two minutes later.

Leigh Dowling later went close with a free-kick and Humphries turned a shot over the bar, while Gill had an effort saved by Lewis.

Malvern host Dunstable Town tomorrow (ko 3pm).
