MALVERN’S The Chase School have formed their first American football team in the run-up to Christmas.
The sport’s popularity within the United Kingdom has grown rapidly over the past few years and junior teams are appearing all over the place.
Chase Centurions boast both a boys and girls team for 16 to 18 year olds and are currently in the funding stage in order to obtain all the necessary equipment.
Regular practices for their 40 members are on Tuesdays for girls and Fridays for boys, both from 3.15pm until 4.30pm.
From January, a non-contact, flag football team will be set up for all pupils aged 15 and under.
The tactical game of American football develops communication skills, teamwork and discipline as well as utilising a varying range of athletes.
