A LARGE entry for the autumn meeting medal saw Paul Jones lift The Worcestershire’s own Claret Jug.

Playing off a handicap of seven, Jones carded nett 65 to take Division One, beating Colin Goodrum (handicap nine, nett 66) by just one stroke.

Four Division One players recorded 70 with Mark Read third ahead of Andy McCabe, Lee Whittall and Andy Dunster on count-back. The Autumn Cup was claimed by Division Two winner Chris Massey (16) with 70.

Club captain Mike Sterry (15-71) beat John Davies (13- 71) to second with Stuart Green (14-74), Derry Hanratty (15-74) and Mike Hill (15- 75) taking the minor placings.

Will Brimmell (26-70) won Division Three’s Cotton Tankard ahead of Les Facer (19-71), Jan Szymanski (22- 72), Vic Hammond (18-73), Rob Marriott (22-73) and Neil Smillie (23-75).

In the mid-week stableford, Division Two's Bob Wilson (handicap 19) triumphed with 39 points on count-back from Eric Hadwin (19).

Josh Marshall (17) was third with 37 and Alan Talbot (20) fourth.

John Poulton (12) won Division One with 37 ahead of Pete Basten (15-35), Dave Marshall (1-32) and Jim Wilde (15-31).

The Silver Division’s onsong Brenda Jones bagged the September medal and Ladies’ Golf Union Brooch with nett 72. Cathy Harris was second with 73 from Sandra Schofield (74).

The Bronze Division went to Frances Davies (74) from Jill Mico (75) and Jan Kirkland (78), while Margaret Duncan (80) secured the Copper Division on count-back from Maureen Riley and Isobel Carmichael. A small Sunday medal entry saw the Bronze Division’s Jane Poynder win with nett 76.

Lucy Walton (77) claimed the Silver Division on countback from Alison Tuck and Veronica Shaw (78) was second in the Bronze.

In a nine-hole stableford, Esme Davy excelled with 18 points ahead of Ann Goode and Marie Willis.

Eight mixed pairs performed well at The Herefordshire in a 4½-3½ defeat.

The Worcestershire winners were Andrew and Sally Dare, Trevor and Brenda Cox and Anthony and Jackie Marks with Colin and Jenny Jones halving.
