MALVERN Hills club star Amy Stanton successfully defended her Under 25s Women’s World Council Indoor Bowls title in Fraserburgh.
Stanton’s first game in her round-robin section was a tough encounter with Scotland’s Michelle Keenan.
The England ace lost the first set 9-1 before a low-scoring second saw the Worcestershire player triumph 6-2 after nine ends. She won the deciding tiebreak 2-0.
Stanton won all five roundrobin games before setting up a final rematch with Keenan after beating Kirsty Gardiner 2-0 in the semis.
After four ends, Stanton was 5-0 down but she picked up the next five to win the first set 9-5.
The second was close and she went into the ninth end one shot down but then picked up two for an 11-10 victory, sealing her third successive world title.
In the men’s under 25s, defending champion Shaun Jones, also from Malvern Hills, won three round-robin games but did not make the knock-outs.
