TWO services to be held in Malvern Link for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity were cancelled due to snow.

But the United Games Evening at Somers Park Methodist Church went ahead.

The team members representing the churches of Powick, Callow End and Madresfield/Guarlford failed to progress beyond the second round. The overall trophy was won by Holy Trinity Church, Link Top.

The new Malvern Hills Food Bank has just opened at Unit 3, Howsell Road Industrial Site in Malvern on Mondays and Thursdays.

Donations of dry food in packets or tins can be left at the back of St Peter’s and St James’ churches, or can be taken to the Lyttelton Well.

Powick Guild began the new year with a beetle drive, followed by tea and biscuits and a chat about members’ Christmas activities.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, February 12, at 2.15pm at the Orchard Centre.

A public meeting was called by Councillor Tom Wells last Sunday in Powick parish Hall to discuss Bovis’ Planning Application for 45 houses to the rear of the Crown and adjacent to Russell Close with proposed access via Russell Close.

Sixteen people attended including district councillors Tom Wells and Elaine Newman, and Jim Allsopp, vice chair of the Powick Parish Council Planning Committee.

Views from the local residents were made known, with concerns that the development would be too large and access too narrow.

Powick Parish Council will be considering the plans submitted by Bovis at Powick School on Wednesday, February 13, at 6.30pm.

Members of the public are welcome.

A few new members have been welcomed to Powick Badminton Club, meeting on Wednesdays in Powick Parish Hall.

However there will not be badminton on Wednesdays, February 6 (council meeting), 13th (RSPB) or on the 20th (panto).

Tickets are available for Treasure Island being performed at Powick Parish Hall on Tuesday, February 19 to Saturday, February 23 (adults £6, children £4) at 7.30pm.

Powick Parish Ramblers meet on Wednesday at the British Camp car park at 10am for a five mile walk to Midsummer Hill and back.

There are some steep climbs but at least low lying wet ground will be avoided!
