CHILDREN in less fortunate parts of the world will have a gift to open tomorrow (Christmas Day) thanks to the generosity of Upton residents.
Upton Baptist Church hosted a workshop for Operation Christmas Child’s shoebox appeal in the run-up to the festive season.
A total of 170 boxes were filled with goodies at the event, and these have now been sent out to children in Bosnia, Serbia, Krgystan and Swaziland in time for Christmas.
Barrie Burch, who organised the appeal in Upton, said: “170 boxes is a tremendous effort for a small community, and we would particularly encourage anyone who wants to get involved in the future to do so, so that we can continue to make a difference for children who, without your help, would have nothing at Christmas time.”
Anyone interested in helping with future appeals should call Mr Burch on 01684 594412.
