A REDDITCH businessman is in the running for a prestigious award after being nominated as an ‘Entrepreneur Icon’ in the Barclays’ Entrepreneur Awards.

Stuart Watson, 43, was nominated for the award by his bank manager Nicola Taylor, in recognition of his success with his own computer support company Leap IT

He said: “I am just delighted to have received this nomination from Barclays Bank, not only for myself but also for my team who have worked tirelessly to make Leap IT one of the leading IT Companies in the West Midlands.”

Mr Watson launched Leap IT in Bromsgrove in 2001, before moving to Greenlands Business Centre in Redditch seven years ago.

He expanded his company with a second site in Coventry and a head office in Birmingham this year, and provides support to more than 200 businesses in the West Midlands.

He will compete in the regional finals with the winners - announced in September - then progressing into the national contest on October 11.

Judging panels in the awards are made up of senior Barclays colleagues, as well as experienced entrepreneurs and businessmen from each local area.
