THOUSANDS of people have flocked to Worcester racecourse for the final day of the Worcester Camra beer festival.

Tickets for today's event sold out at around 2.30pm as people began to queue for the chance to enjoy real ale and fruity ciders into this evening.

Mat Skilbeck, from the organising committee, said: "It was sold out yesterday and we've just sold out earlier today.

"We've got entertainment on all day and Saturday-only beers becoming available for people today.

"We'll have 4,000 in today.

"We are due to have 11,600 people here over the weekend.

"We had to limit the numbers this year because we had so many last year.

"By limiting it we can get the customers served quicker.

"Not a lot of people realise that we are all volunteers, everyone involved.

"The only people that get paid are security and entertainment.

"It has gone really smoothly this year.

"We've had great feedback, particularly on the new range of fruit ciders.

"That's been very popular and sold really well.

"And it's been perfect weather for us."

Sisters Charlotte and Joanna Pingriff were there today enjoying Barbourne Cider's Strawberry Cup and Plum wine.

Charlotte, who lives off Wyld's Lane, said: "We come here every single year and we love it.

"Everyone is really relaxed and chilled.

"There's adults, kids, young people, older people, dogs.

"It's a really good mix. It's brilliant."

Joanna, of St John's, added: "There's always a really good atmosphere.

"It's a mark on our calendar, every year it's one of the things we do."

Chris Catchpole, from St Peter's, was there for his second day, after also attending the festival on Thursday.

He said he was enjoying the light ales on offer.

He said: "I think it's brilliantly organised.

"It's friendly and safe.

"I've tried lots of different ales.

"I've come the past two years and it's always the same. They are very consistent."
