TRIBUTES have flooded in on Facebook for Sam Killing, the 20-year-old who tragically died after being hit by a train in Droitwich.

The talented musician, a member of Birmingham-based guitar band Juice, died near to the Colford level crossing at 8.44am on Thursday (December 17).

His bandmates took to social media to pay tribute to a friend who made a “very big impression”.

A status on Juice’s Facebook page said: “We’re really sad to announce that Sam has passed away earlier this morning.

“Whilst he was only with us for a very short time, he left a very big impression on all of us. Still can't believe it. Rest easy Sammy K.”

The post sparked a flurry of comments from friends and family.

Linda Collett wrote: “Thank you lads. He enjoyed his time with you. He was a lovely grandson and very talented. We loved him and still do very much. He loved his music.”

Mariah Stanley added: “Rest in peace Sam – you were always such a funny dude when we were younger. Never forgotten.”

Another Facebook user touched on the tragedy of Sam losing his life at such a young age.

Julie Worsfold commented: “Lost for words and so tragic for one who had his whole life ahead of him. Just so grateful that I had the pleasure of knowing you. RIP Sam. Sending the biggest of hugs to all your family and friends at this incredibly sad time - god bless you all.”

About 60 similar messages of condolence and remembrance were added to the post.

Carlo Solazzo said “such tragic news - he was a really lovely guy and a talented musician” and Wolf Lambert commented “that's awful, may he rest in peace”.

Emma Parkins posted “such sad news, love to his family and friends” while Wendie Knowles added simply “goodnight Sam RIP”.

Mr Killing’s death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed, according to the British Transport Police.

Emergency services attended the collision but could not save the 20-year-old, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident caused disruption on the railway line between Hereford and Birmingham, with several trains cancelled.

A file on the death will be released by Worcestershire Coroners Service in due course.

Mr Killing, who lived in Droitwich, is believed to have studied at Droitwich Spa High School.
