A POLL by Travelodge has revealed Worcester's ideal Christmas guests.

People in the city would most like to spend the festive season with Sir David Attenborough, Prince Harry or Ant and Dec.

The hotel chain, which surveyed 2,500 adults nationally, compiled a top 10 list of Worcester's dream guests, with Mary Berry, Stephen Fry, Holly Willoughby, Kate Middleton, Philip Schofield, Alan Carr and Barack Obama making the cut.

But mother-in-laws didn't fare so well, being labelled the "most dreaded Christmas guest".

The survey revealed people in Worcester aspire for a combination of good baking, intellect, humour, royalty and glamour around their dinner tables this Christmas It also showed that 53 per cent of households in Worcester will have family and friends staying over the festive holidays, with three guests staying for three nights on average.

The top three qualities Worcester looks for in guests staying over Christmas are ‘funny’, ‘good conversation’ and ‘entertaining, while the least popular traits are ‘overbearing’, ‘bossy’ and ‘grumpy’.

Findings also revealed that 34 per cent of locals reported that Christmas guests arrive too early and 46 per cent believe they just get in the way.

Shakila Ahmed, a Travelodge spokesman, said: “Looking at the nation’s ideal Christmas guest list, hosts do not want their guests to be overbearing or bossy, but they want to them to be funny, entertaining and all-round good company.”
