MALVERN's own further education college is one of 21 across the West Midlands taking part in a bursary scheme organised by the Army.
From September this year, students at Evesham and Malvern Hills College taking courses in IT and technology, engineering, catering, construction, public services or vehicle repair will be eligible for the Army's Further Education Bursary scheme.
This will see the Army paying £2,000 to students who complete their course before enlisting in the Army.
Army spokesman Lt Col John Moody said: "The Army has a proud tradition of supporting its future employees through further education and this new scheme demonstrates our commitment to life long learning and vocational training.
The scheme is available to people between the ages of 16 and 25 who are going into further education. It will provide £1,000 for students whilst at college and a further award of £1,000 for students completing training when they join the British Army at the end of their course.
