AN out-going parish councillor and former pub landlord has reiterated his desire to serve the county’s largest village.

Councillor David Harrison, who once ran the old Farmer’s Arms pub, and now represents Kempsey on the district council, stood down last month.

He had been on the parish council since late 2001, and was chairman for two years including 2007 when flooding cut the village off for two days.

Coun Harrison, who has lived in Kempsey since 1953, linked his decision to stand down with the increased workload of becoming a Malvern Hills district councillor in 2011, and his recovery from a minor stroke last year.

He thanked colleagues, and the parishioners saying: “I am hopefully now giving back to the parishioners of the village, the same support I received from them at the Farmers Arms over the many years.”
