PROPOSALS for a major new development including a hotel in Malvern town centre will go on show to the public next weekend.

Developer Allied Investment Partners (AIP) wants to build the hotel, plus shops, restaurants and apartments, on Edith Walk, between the Foley Arms hotel and Waitrose.

They are staging an exhibition next Friday and Saturday (August 19 and 20) at Priory Lodge Hall, Avenue Road.

AIP's proposals for the 0.4 hectare site include a mix of low-rise apartment homes, small boutique shops and restaurants and a two-storey hotel. It is already agreed that, if the plan is approved, Travelodge will operate the hotel.

Project director John Knight said: “Malvern is a highly desirable residential location for many people in and outside of the area. We believe that these proposals will complement the range of facilities already available, provide much-needed town centre accommodation and enhance the streetscape around Edith Walk.

“We hope that as many local residents as possible will take the opportunity to come and see the plans, discuss our proposals with the project team and provide us with valuable feedback.”

The firm is sending out 2,500 leaflets to local households to encourage public participation. The exhibition will be open from 1pm to 8pm on the Friday and 10am to 6pm on Saturday. The exhibition materials will be on display at the library for a further two weeks.

There will also be the chance to view and comment on line at nlpplanning.com/malvern, which will go live on Friday, August 19. Comments and queries can be sent to malvern@nlpplaning.com.
