IF you want to buy some mistletoe for Christmas, why not get over to Colwall where you can get it and help a good cause at the same time.

Colwall Orchard Group is holding its annual mistletoe fair at Cave's Folly Nursery in Evendine Lane tomorrow (Saturday, December 11) from 2pm to 4pm.

The orchard group is working towards creating a community orchard, including allotments, for the village, and the mistletoe sale is being held to raise funds for the project.

Helen Stace of the group said volunteers were due to be harvesting the mistletoe today (Friday).

"It's part of our winter tree rescue programme, pruning neglected trees to keep them standing and thinning out top-heavy loads of mistletoe.

"The mistletoe is harvested sustainably, to maintain future supplies of mistletoe, to avoid shocking the trees by lightening their load of mistletoe too quickly, and in recognition of the wildlife value of the mistletoe."

At the fair, the group will be offering mistletoe in bunches and decorated sprigs of various sizes, as well as mulled cider and mince pies.
