Last week Malvern College’s Rogers Theatre was filled with the sounds of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s celebrated musical ‘South Pacific’.

Director of Drama Keith Packham, said: “The story is drawn from a Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel by James A. Michener, ‘Tales of the South Pacific’. It is first and foremost a deeply felt drama - its portrayal of Americans stationed in an alien culture in wartime is as relevant today as when it first thrilled audiences in 1949.

“The narrative is woven around some of the most celebrated songs in musical theatre and the College’s stunning production displays an abundance of acting and singing talent. Cast and crew worked hard to faithfully evoke a war-torn paradise and have been thrilled by the responses they have received from audiences. All involved really enjoyed producing this play”.

Malvern College’s production featured Caroline Meinhardt as Ensign Nellie Forbush with Thomas Fayle as Emile de Becque and William Law as Lieutenant Joseph Cable.
