A DRUG dealer from Malvern will be sentenced at crown court after admitting possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Jason Hill, of Greenfields Road, was caught with £50 of the Class B drug, a large amount of cash and a set of digital scales, Worcester Magistrates Court was told.

Matt Dodson, prosecuting, said a community support officer (CSO) was on patrol at about 8.30pm on Tuesday, September 29, when she noticed a red Mitsubishi Colt parked at Peachfield Common.

Mr Dodson said: “As she approached the car the windows were open and there was a very strong smell of cannabis. Four males were sat in the car.”

The CSO called for back up and police officers arrived to search the car and the four males, Mr Dodson added.

In the rear footwells of the car the officers found £50 of cannabis in a plastic tupperware tub, £135 in cash, a set of digital scales and a black Samsung mobile phone.

Hill, aged 24, was arrested and taken to Worcester Police Station where he admitted the cannabis was his but said it was for personal use.

He said the digital scales were used to make sure he had got a “good deal” when he bought cannabis from drug dealers.

Police checked Hills mobile phone and found a number of incoming text messages which made reference to buying drugs.

Mr Dodson said: “The words teenth, bud and smoke were all used.”

District Judge Bruce Morgan, said: “An aggravating feature of this case is the fact you were out in a public place with drugs, with money and with scales. It’s not as if you were at home.”

Mr Morgan decided his sentencing powers were not sufficient and sent the case to Worcester Crown Court.

Hill, who pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply, was given unconditional bail to reappear on Friday, April 30.
