A GROUP which is promoting the creation of a wilderness garden in Malvern is looking for volunteers and donations to help make their dream a reality.

The Wilderness Regeneration Group was set up to run the community garden on open land off Elgar Avenue. It has been active in recent weeks, staging events including a hedgehog day.

The group has now entered the garden for the neighbourhood awards category in next year's Malvern In Bloom and wants volunteers to make it a success.

Secretary Catherine Goodwin said: "We are looking for new members to be on the committee, and for volunteers to move the project forwards."

The group is a non-profit voluntary group, under the umbrella of the Pickersleigh Centre Association, with members of the local community working with Malvern Hills District Council, Malvern Town Council, and Elgar Housing Association.

It also plans to work with other groups, schools and organisations to help turn the garden into a valuable resource for the community.

The group has already benefited from community input, with a new sign for the garden painted with the help of children from Play Rangers Toy Library.

And the group also wants to say a big thank-you to Phyllis Lewis of Malvern Community First’s IT project, Getwithit.

Getwithit, which has teamed up with Microprice Computers of Malvern to repair voluntary-sector computers for free, came to the rescue when the team's computer stopped working, and they were told it would cost £600 to repair.

‘’Microprice got our laptop working again and our files back in no time at all, and with friendly customer service," said Catherine.
