LOCAL MP Sir Michael Spicer is standing unopposed for the tenth and final time for the chairmanship of the Conservative Parliamentary Party, known as the 1922 Committee.
Sir Michael will hold the position until he retires from Parliament at the next general election.
He said: “I believe it is almost without precedent that a Chairman of the 1922 Committee should have been re-elected unopposed for such a long period.
“It has been a great honour to have held the confidence of my fellow colleagues in Parliament over a turbulent period during which I presided over three leadership contests.”
