A HEDGEHOG day held at the community garden off Elgar Avenue was a great success.

The day was organised by the Wilderness Regeneration Group, which has been set up to look after the garden.

The special guest was Viv Smith, a member of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, who brought along Midge the hedgehog for everyone to meet.

Organisers want to thank Viv and all those who came along, with a good positive community turnout supporting the project on a cold and very windy day.

The day includes work on a hedgehog home for the garden, and making hedgehog cakes.

The Wilderness Regeneration Group is holding another event at the garden on Sunday November 22, from 2-5pm.

This will be a hedgerow day, planting a traditional hedgerow donated by the Woodland Trust, that will provide a habitat for wildlife, including birds and mammals.

The Wilderness Regeneration Group would like to invite residents, schools, groups and clubs to come along and get muddy, so wrap up warm, bring a trowel and don’t forget your wellies. Refreshments will be available.
