THE festive season comes early to the Elgar Birthplace Museum with Christmas with the Elgars, a talk by Geoff Hodgkins, chairman of the Elgar Society's London branch, tomorrow (Saturday, November 14) at 2.30pm.

The illustrated talk is a light-hearted look at Elgar’s views on Christmas and the music he wrote for the festive season.

In Elgar's own words this will be “a regular Yule-loggy puddingly, brandy-saucious afternoon”.

The event has special significance as it will include a previously-unheard piece of music composed by Elgar especially for Christmas.

Museum director Catherine Sloan said: “Geoff Hodgkins is a great speaker on Elgar and we are very fortunate that he has offered to give this fascinating talk at the museum. It will be festive, fun and informative – a definite must for anyone wanting to get in the Chrstmas mood”.

Further information and tickets, which include refreshments, are available on 01905 333224. Tickets are £6 (£5 for members).
