MALVERN Town have made their third new signing of the summer in the form of centre-half Joe Davies from Westfields.

Ahead of their first season back in the Southern League following their promotion, The Hillsiders have added experienced non-league defender Davies to their ranks.

Davies, 26, made 46 appearances for the Herefordshire-based side in the Hellenic League Premier campaign in 22/23. He scored three goals in those matches and is renowned for his ability in the air.

"Joe is a big, strong centre-back who is great at both ends of the pitch," said co-manager Lee Hooper.

"His strength is in meeting and greeting the ball, which is an important ingredient at this level. He has an impressive goal record from set-pieces and is a great lad who will fit in really well here.

"Both Sooty (co-manager Stephen Cleal) and I are delighted to get this signing across the line."

Davies added: "This club has a reputation as being well-run and the set-up speaks for itself. I know a few of the lads here already and I can’t wait to get going.

"It’s going to be a tough and competitive League against some established clubs, but I feel as though we can go in there and give a good account of ourselves, particularly if we can maintain the team’s good home form.

"I would say that I am a threat in the air and, as the Gaffer has said, I can make an impact in both boxes.

"Hopefully I can come in and help us tighten up defensively in order to give ourselves a platform on which to build from.

"We’ll be looking to finish as high as we can in Step 4 and establish ourselves at this level. A good run in the FA Cup or FA Trophy would be nice too."
