MALVERN Town have received a number of big boosts ahead of their first season back in the Southern League for 14 years.

Left-back and captain Lewis Platt guided The Hillsiders to promotion from the Hellenic League Premier via the play-offs at the end of the 2022/23 campaign and he will continue to lead his side into the 23/24 campaign in the Southern League Division One South.

He has signed a one-year deal, one of five players to sign up ahead of the new season.

Manager's Player of the Season and the Supporters' Player of the Season, Adam Sauntson, has also signed up for The Hillsiders. The centre-half racked up 48 appearances for the club last term and scored six goals along the way.

Another player that Lee Hooper and Stephen Cleal would have been keen to tie down is winger Ben Hayes. Hayes ended the 22/23 campaign in sensational fashion, finishing the Hellenic Premier season with 18 league goals and has now agreed to stay on for another season.

Defender Luke Payne and academy product Curtis Smith have also committed to play for managers Lee Hooper and Stephen Cleal. Star winger Ben Hayes has also agreed to play for another year.

Curtis Smith played a bit-part role throughout the last 12 months having broken into the first-team squad from the Reserves. He has come through the ranks at the club and will no doubt get more chances to impress next season.
