STAFF at Malvern Hills District Council raised just over £900 in 2016 for various charities.

Each year, staff members at the council house choose a number of national charity events to take part in and raise money for them by holding raffles, dress down days, quizzes and cake sales.

Among the causes the supported were Jeans for Genes and which raised £65 for Genetic Disorders UK, the Macmillan Coffee Morning (£186.78) Children in Need (£131.96) and the Poppy Appeal (£45.22).

The Alzheimers Society's cupcake day raised £106.30, Sport Relief raised £113.05 and a Christmas wqQuiz raised £66 for Malvern's Salvation Army.

And on Mental Health Day, staff raised £50 for Positive Thoughts, Link Nurseries and Jigsaw, the causes supprted by council chairman John Raine..

Staff at Malvern Tourist Information Centre also raised £161 for Acorns Children’s Hospice with their Letter to Santa event.

Chairman Phil Grove said: “We are so pleased with the generous amounts raised for charity last year. The events are an excellent way to raise vital money for worthy causes, and we hope to continue our good work throughout 2017.”
