POLICE stopped a driver who was travelling at speeds of up to 146mph south of Worcester.
The Central Motorway Police stopped the driver between junction 7 (Worcester South) and 8 (Strensham).
In a Tweet this morning they said the driver's top speed had been 146mph and the average speed 132mph.
A spokesman for the CMPG said the driver had been delivering the brand new car to its new owner.
A drink driver was also arrested between junction 4 and 3 of the M5 and blew 119mcg at the station, nearly three and a half times the drink drive limit (35mcg).
A police spokesman said: “They will be charged when sober.”
West Mercia’s Operations Patrol Unit last night seized a ‘suspicious van’ in Worcester city centre. The driver only had a provisional licence and no insurance.
Elsewhere in the region the Central Motorway Police Group arrested two men after they stopped a car while on patrol in Birmingham. Inside were machetes and balaclavas.
