THE influx of new housing into Malvern will continue if Malvern Hills District Council approves two new apartment developments.

Developers are seeking permission to build seven apartments at Lindfield, a former Malvern Girls' College building in Avenue Road, and six on the site of an existing house in Yates Hay Road.

As a school building Lindfield provided accommodation for up to 60 girls, but has been empty since it was sold by the college.

Mr M Little, of Besford, has submitted plans to convert the building into six three-bedroom and one two-bedroom apartments, retaining the building's original features and making only minor alterations to create new doorways.

An existing area around the building would provide 12 parking spaces, while a renewable energy plan would see the use of solar panels and energy efficient condensing boilers.

A supporting statement for the development states it would secure the future of an important Victorian building in a prominent location.

Meanwhile six new one-bedroom apartments could be built in Malvern Link, if planners give the go-ahead for 70 Yates Hay Road to be demolished.
