A team from Malvern St James Girls' School came out on top in a debating competition against five other teams from across the county.
It entered two teams, who came first and second, into the second heat of the ESU Public Speaking Competition where they discussed the questions "Does intervention from Western states fuel terrorism?’, with the second team tackling the controversial topic of pre-natal selection.
The winning team, which consisted of Phoebe Nairn as chair, Jenny Gallagher as speaker and Fiyin Durojaiye as questioner, will now compete in the next round at the Guildhall, on March 14.
As well as proving themselves to be the best teams on the day, Malvern St James girls also scooped individual awards.
Phoebe Nairn won the Best Chair Award, and Chloe Parker- of the second placed team- won the Best Questioner Award.
