BLOOD cancer support charity, Leukaemia CARE, is calling for volunteers to help run its 24-hour CARE Line, which provides round the clock support to patients and families.
CARE Line volunteers offer confidential emotional support and practical advice to those who need it, and the charity is looking for up to 10 dedicated individuals to join its friendly team.
The role will be home-based and volunteers will be required to work at different times of the day, including evening and weekends, to fit around their home and other life commitments.
o direct experience of blood cancer is necessary, but successful candidates will need to demonstrate that they are empathetic, caring, non-judgemental and a good listener. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Esther Wroughton of Leukaemia CARE, said: “Our volunteers play a key role in supporting patients and loved ones through what can be an extremely distressing and difficult experience. By sparing a little time, volunteers can really make a difference to someone’s life and make what they are going through that little bit more bearable.”
