This Saturday evening is the Marie Curie Charity Concert, 7.30m, at the Ledbury Baptist Church. Come and give your support for this worthwhile cause in helping those with cancer. Tickets are £8 and are available at Three Counties Bookshop, Ledbury.

Village activities continue as usual. Building work is still in progress at The Farmers Arms. Pool Piece is looking very pretty, thanks to the volunteers who tend the lawns and keep an eye on the plants. The natural wild meadow up at the cemetery has been mowed in readiness for the cooler months.

The service this Sunday at Christ Church is Family Communion, 9.30am, and there will be a child dedication (my grandson). Please note that the Harvest Service will be on 9 October, 11am, and this will be followed by a ‘bring and share’ lunch at the Memorial Hall. All are welcome to attend these services.

Another date to diarize is Saturday 3 December, 10am – 12 noon, at the Memorial Hall. It is the Christmas Fayre and all are encouraged to be involved to support this fund-raiser for the village church.

Meanwhile, a date closer to hand is the Village Quiz Night on 8 October, 7.30pm. Book your place, get your team together, and don’t miss it! Cost is £2.50 per person and tables of up to 6 are permissible. Contact Natalie at stuandnat@btinternet.com for further information.

And a date even sooner is Thursday’s Curious Blend Coffee Morning at the Memorial Hall, 10.30am – 12 noon. This is a chance for all villagers to meet together, catch up on news, browse through the second hand books and enjoy a coffee or tea (£1).

And a thought for the week: ‘When life gets too hard to stand, kneel.’

Have a lovely week!
