THE Malvern MODS met at the Malvern Vale Community Centre on the first Monday of June to learn more about the WI Craft Collection. A representative of West Malvern, Pat Jones Brought an amazing array of craft products from bygone times.
The collection was begun to preserve dying crafts. Many of the members and visitors remembered macrame plant holders when shown a beautiful macrame handbag made years ago. Tatting was another craft from long ago, which very few of us had seen, along with handmade lace and cross stitch.
There were some very beautiful, fine knitted pieces and exquisite embroidery. It was obvious that someone had great foresight in preserving these beautiful pieces for us to handle and see.
We were very pleased to welcome Pat Jones to the meeting to show us the collection and it was delightful to see her passion for the collection and we discussed visiting Denman and more local venues to learn skills like these in the modern world.
The next meeting will be on 4 July at 7.30. All are welcome to join us for the evening , with a suggested donation of £2 or join the group for the rest of the year.
Our speaker will be, David Barrie, helping us with 'You are What You Eat'. We look forward to welcoming new and old members alike and welcome visitors from other clubs.
