APPROXIMATELY 50 members of the U3A Garden Group recently visited private gardens of Llysdinam in Powys on Tuesday 17 May. The gardens are only open a few times each year to the public or through organised groups such as the Ledbury & District U3A garden group.
The gardens are set in beautiful countryside and although it was a somewhat cloudy day, the rain which was forecast only started in earnest as the group was leaving!
The Head Gardener Becky, acted as a guide, and at the end of the visit dug up pieces of plants from the gardens for purchase!
The greenhouses visited ranged from cold; housing peaches, nectarines and apricots, to heated; where the figs, grapes, oranges and lemons live. The eldest specimen, a 150 year old orange tree, was brought back by family member Agnes Minna in 1857.
Thanks to Brenda and Linda for organising such a wonderful afternoon
