LAST Saturday we were delighted to welcome back The Hills Singers who delivered a varied programme of music to celebrate the works of Shakespeare and the festival of St George. Much of the music was unfamiliar to the audience, but they received it with enthusiasm and everyone left with a tune on their lips and a song in their hearts. Thanks must go to the catering team for producing a delicious spread of 'nibbles' during the interval and to Carol Green, the Director of the Hills Singers, and to Tim Sidford (piano), Malcolm McLeod (organ) and Richard Percy (bass) for their sensitive accompaniment. A wonderful evening's entertainment was enjoyed by us all.

Our next musical event is a Harp Recital on May 21 at 7.30pm in the church. Elizabeth Bass studies harp in London and has enjoyed success both in competitions and at major performance venues in the UK. We are fortunate to have her come and play for us next month - a rare opportunity to hear this lovely instrument in a programme of wide-ranging music. Tickets for this cost £10 (including refreshments) and are available from David Edwards (07733 105258) and Sarah Musgrave (07715 562311). A bar will be open for wine and soft drinks throughout the evening.

Our next CaCoffany takes place on Saturday May 7 from 10am. We shall be celebrating Her Majesty The Queen's 90th birthday and hymns will be centred on that theme. Hymn requests should be emailed to sjmusgrave33@gmail.com by Thursday, May 5. Phoenix Cards and wrapping paper will be on sale, in addition to the regular Bring and Buy stall, and coffee and cake will be served from 10.45am. We look forward to welcoming regular attenders and visitors alike.

This Sunday is Rogation Sunday and we shall meet at Hill End Court at 4pm to hold our service of thanksgiving outdoors. All are welcome to join us for this, which will be followed by tea.
