The lunch of homemade soup and bread baguettes was well supported last Saturday when over 50 people called in at St James’ Church, Callow End. There were five different soups to try and many thanks go to the team of helpers: Frances Betts, Julia Davis, Kris Quatermass and Thea Wild, with floral table arrangements by June Goddard. Donations in aid of the Worcestershire and Dudley Historic Churches Trust and The National Churches Trust amounted to £250.

Children from five to 11 years are invited to The Tower of Babel activity morning today, Friday, from 10am-1pm at St James’ Church, Callow End. The theme is Building; there is no charge and a light lunch will be served.

On Sunday, November 1, the Annual Memorial Service takes place in St Peter’s Church, Powick, at 4pm. The newly-bereaved of the four churches are especially invited.

Callow End Club is holding a Halloween Party tomorrow, Saturday, from 4-6pm for children. There is a prize for the best Halloween costume.

The Old Bush in Callow End hosts a Bonfire and Fireworks Display on Thursday, November 5. The fire will be lit at 6.45pm and the fireworks are at 7pm, with a BBQ from 6pm. Tickets are £2.50 from the Old Bush and Pound Stores, or pay £3 on the night; under 10s are free.

A Community Consultation Event on the proposed development on land off Hospital Lane in Powick, will take place on Wednesday 24 from 3-8pm in Powick Parish Hall. The design team and specialist consultants will be on hand to answer queries about the layout, appearance and scale of the development and the landscaping of the site. A similar consultation will take place on Saturday, November 14 from 10am-1pm.
