AT Lansdowne Crescent Methodist Church we are looking forward to a visit from Reverend David Butterworth, the Lead Chaplain at the NEC and Birmingham District Chaplaincy Coordinator.

He will be preaching at our morning service on Sunday, October 25, at 10.30am, and all are welcome to come and hear him.

David’s work involves going to Board meetings and being part of the NEC Group People’s Forum, supporting staff and visitors in all situations, from conducting marriage blessings to taking funerals. He looks after about 100 chaplains in different roles in the Birmingham Methodist District. He should have some interesting stories to tell.

David’s visit is particularly timely, as Lansdowne’s charity for the year is the Dyson Perrins Chaplaincy and Youth Work Project – a fusion of School, Church and Community. Katie Fisher has started her work as the new chaplain at Dyson Perrins and we look forward to meeting her and finding out more about her work at our Sunday morning service on November 22. Over £3,000 has been raised so far to support her ongoing chaplaincy work.

The next major fund-raising event will be a concert by the Hills Singers on Saturday, November 7 at 7.30pm. They will be singing Stanford’s Three Motets, Bach’s Jesu Meine Freude”and Faure’s Requiem. Tickets are £10 (students £5) including refreshments and can be reserved by ringing 01684 566927.

Meanwhile, Lansdowne’s third public debate is being held on Saturday, October 24 at 7.45pm. The subject is Worcestershire NHS: More or Less? To obtain tickets go to http://worcestershirenhs.eventbrite.co.uk .
