On Saturday 10th October, over 80 walkers took to the Malvern Hills as part of Cancer Research UK’s annual walk – all raising money to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Now in its 17th year, the walk, organised by the charity’s Malvern fundraising group, is expected to raise in excess of £8,000 – thanks to the sponsorship efforts of the walkers – many of which travelled a great distance to take part.

The walk is now into its17th year and to date has raised an amazing £120,000 for the charity, and plans are already being put in place for the 2016 event. Organiser and chair of the Malvern Fundraising Committee said, “It has been a great day, and we really enjoying seeing both new walkers, and those that have taken part before. We keep photographs and cuttings from all of the walks over the years, and we take the chance to look through, and see how some families have grown”.

Cancer Research UK Fundraising Manager, Victoria Roberts, added, “The Malvern Walk is a great event, brilliantly organised by Ray and all at the Malvern group. The options of walking 3, 6 or 10 miles give all ages the chance to get involved. Cancer is a horrible disease, and 1 in 2 people in the UK with receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in their lives. Thanks to research, more people than ever before are surviving cancer – and that research wouldn’t be possible without the fundraising efforts of the Malvern Committee and all of the walkers raising money for Cancer Research UK. A huge thank you to everyone involved.”

The Malvern fundraising group continue to organise events and activities through the year.
