ST Peter’s Church fete held last Saturday benefitted from a fine sunny day between two wet days!

Lots of people came to buy from the stalls selling cakes, books, toys and bric-a-brac. The raffle was supported by donations of vouchers from local businesses: Bowling Green Garage, The Three Nuns, Cromwells, The Blue Bell, the Maize Maze, The Red Lion - for which thanks are due. The bell ringers escorted folk up the church tower and ran the tombola. Delicious scones with jam and cream were served with tea by the ladies of Callow End WI – for which thanks. Special thanks to Lyn Snook and Mark Whittal-Williams of the Ukulele Club for providing music and songs in the church, and to Mike Ledbury who played his accordion outside in the churchyard. A guest appearance was made by Flash the young Harris Hawk, although he was unable to fly due to being in the moult. Thank you to all who helped and supported the fete which raised in excess of £1,060 for replacement of the fuel pipe for the church heating and general maintenance.

A walk takes place today to Shelsley Beauchamp by Powick Ramblers. Next Friday, August 7 they meet at Upton-on-Severn car park opposite the church for a 4.5 mile walk along water meadows and pasture, led by Chris.
