POWICK

A SUCCESSFUl Open Day at the Link Nurseries, on May Bank holiday, resulted in over £2,364 in plant sales and for the Friends £195.64 was raised by the sale of coffee, cake, raffle and shop items.

If you still need to buy bedding and plants for hanging baskets, and vegetable plants or need planters, come to the next Open Day on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25 from 10am to 3.30pm.

Last Friday there was the regular coffee morning at the nurseries when numbers were swelled by members of Ombersley Gardening Club. Peter gave an interesting talk on how to grow tomatoes, and which variety and which compost to use, and how to cope with pests using companion planting. The raffle raised £70 and Ombersley Gardening Club gave a cheque for £114.

On Tuesday, May 19 Powick Ramblers meet at 10am at the Plume of Feathers, Castlemorton Common for a 5 ¼ mile walk up to Little Malvern Priory and along the lower slopes of the hills to Gullett Quarry, and back to the pub.
